Decent tools ok case, poor latches

It's the first off let me rate the tools themselves, not considering the case. And my star review reflects just the tools and their price point not the case. The sockets seem to be decent quality, but they could be a little bit better polished for finish as there were a few burrs on a few of the sockets. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is when you're in the middle of a working on something and it catches your finger. That is easily resolved however with a little emery cloth. The socket walls are pretty thick and seemingly durable. There are both quarter inch and half inch ratchets, which is different than what I'm used to but fine nonetheless. They did not overload you with bits for the screwdriver to up the count of tools in the kit, and they did include the necessary allen keys to make sure that the Allen screws in the ratchet stay tight. The ratchets have fine teeth instead of course, and that makes it easier for projects with limited space under the hood. The universal joint is thick and a little large, but will not apparently break under a lot of use. It even included a breaker bar of sorts that you could use. I did really like the schematic in the upper portion of the lid that tells you where each size of the sockets are. I also like the fact that they didn't skip any sizes, but gave you all sizes instead of relying on SAE counterparts. Now that we've outlined that the tools themselves are good, let's talk about the case. Instead of having just a plastic fold over in the rear, it has a real metal hinge per se to open and close the case. That seems very nice and won't break easily. The hinges themselves are metal, which is also another plus. Unfortunately the underlying design is not so good on the hinges and as you can see in the video that I posted they pop off so easily, they are guaranteed to get lost quickly.I will probably try to find another solution for the latches before I give these to my son for Christmas. All in all though I think this is a good starter kit for him to grow into.
